Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Unit are investigating a traffic fatality which occurred in the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Woodley Road, NW.
On Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at approximately 7:30 am, units from the Second District responded to the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and Woodley Road, NW to investigate a traffic collision with injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Toyota Sienna was southbound on Connecticut Avenue, NW and had attempted a left turn onto Woodley Road, NW. The Toyota Sienna was struck in the intersection on its passenger side by a Nissan Sentra that had been traveling northbound on Connecticut Avenue.
The Toyota Sienna’s rear passenger, Luther Head, was transported from the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel to a local hospital. Both drivers were transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel to a local hospital with minor injuries. Both were later discharged.
On Wednesday, July 4, 2012, 72 year-old Luther Head of Northwest DC, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.
