Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department's Major Crash Unit are investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, in the 4300 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast.
At approximately 5:25 p.m., the operator of a BMW 328i was traveling northbound on Southern Avenue, Southeast, at a high rate of speed. The BMW rear ended a Buick Lucerne, which was parked and occupied, in the 4300 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast. The operator of the BMW was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The occupant of the Buick Lucerne was treated on the scene.
The decedent has been identified as 50-year-old William Lamont Walker, of Southeast, DC.
