Traffic Advisory: National Race to End Women’s Cancer 8K

The Metropolitan Police Department wishes to advise the public that the National Race to End Women’s Cancer 8K Race is scheduled to be held on Sunday,

November 4, 2012 in downtown Washington, DC. In order to facilitate this event there will be no vehicular traffic allowed and parking restrictions along the routes of this event.

The race will start on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 12th and 13th Streets.  Street closures in some areas along the route will begin as early 3:00 a.m. and expected to reopen at 12:00 pm.  The race is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.

  • Start line is on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW between 12th and 13th Streets
  • East on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW from 12th Street
  • Left on Constitution Avenue, NW
  • Left on Louisiana Avenue, NW
  • Right on D Street, NE
  • Left on 1st Street, NE
  • U-turn at the entrance to the parking lot between C & D Streets, NE
  • North on 1st Street, NE
  • Left on D Street, NE
  • Left on Louisiana Avenue, NE
  • Right on Constitution Avenue, NW
  • Left on 3rd Street, NW
  • Left on Independence Avenue, SW
  • Right on Washington Avenue, SW
  • Right on 2nd Street, SW
  • Right on E Street, SW
  • Right on 3rd Street, SW
  • Left on Independence Avenue, SW
  • U-turn east of 7th Street, SW
  • East on Independence Avenue, SW
  • Left on 3rd Street, SW
  • Left on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
  • Left on 10th Street, NW
  • U-turn middle of the block
  • Left on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW where the race will disband

 

Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes.  The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wish to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
