TRAFFIC ADVISORY: 2019 Chinese New Year Parade

On Sunday, February 10, 2019, The Chinese New Year Parade will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be street closures that motorists should take into consideration:

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking for the event from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm:

 

• I Street between 5^th and 8^th Street, NW
• 8^th Street between I and G Street, NW
• G Street between 8^th and 7^th Street, NW
• 7^th Street between G and H Street, NW
• H Street between 6^th Street and 8^th Street, NW

 

The following streets will be closed from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm:

 

• H Street between 6^th Street and 7^th Street, NW
• I Street between 5^th Street and 6^th Street, NW

 

The following streets will be closed for the parade from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm:

 

• I Street between 5^th and 9^th Street, NW
• 8^th Street between I and G Street, NW
• G Street between 9^th and 7^th Street, NW
• 7^th Street between F and K/Massachusetts Avenue, NW

 

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

 

The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.

 

Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wishes to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
