The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public;s assistance in helping to identify the suspect possibly responsible for several robberies of taxicab drivers in Northwest DC.
Since November of this year, six robberies of cab drivers have occurred within the department's Fourth District. Detectives are investigating the possibility that the same subject is responsible for all six robberies. The crimes occurred at the following times and locations:
November 4, 2005, at 6:50 pm, in the 1400 block of Rock Creek Church Road, NW
November 18, 2005, 5:44 pm, in the 1400 block of Montague Street, NW
November 22, 2005, 5:05 pm, in the1400 block of Sheridan Street, NW
November 25, 2005, 7 pm, in the 700 block of Peabody Street, NW
November 30, 2005, 2:15 pm, in the 1300 block of Rittenhouse Street, NW
December 22, 2005, 10 pm, in the 1300 block of Rittenhouse Street, NW
The suspect in these cases is generally described as a black male, 25 to 35 years old, 5'8" to 6' tall, 160 to 190 pounds, medium to dark complexion, with dreadlocks. In these cases, the suspect either tells the cab driver that he needs to go to an apartment building in the 3600 block of 16th Street, NW, is picked up near an apartment building in the 3600 block of 16th Street, NW, or tells the cab driver that he needs to go a short distance to pickup a girlfriend.

Anyone with information about these cases is asked to call the Metropolitan Police Department at (202) 727-9099. The department currently offers a reward of up to $5,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robberies committed in the District of Columbia.
