The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in attempting to identify the individual responsible for an attempted armed robbery. That incident took place at approximately 10:25 am, on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at the Comfort Inn Hotel, located at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>1201 13th Street, NW. At that time a lone male subject entered the hotel, produced a handgun and jumped over the counter in an attempt to obtain money. The suspect subsequently fled out the front door on foot after failing to obtain anything.
This hotel was robbed two weeks ago, and investigators are looking into the possibility that this suspect may have robbed another hotel before this attempt.

The suspect in this case is described as a black male, in his 20s, light-complexioned, wearing a black hat, blue jacket, blue pants and tan boots. The suspect was further described as having a white rag or tee-shirt wrapped around his face.
Anyone with information about this case or who should observe this subject should take no direct action but call police at (202) 727-9099. The department currently offers a reward of up to $5,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
