The Metropolitan Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with an armed robbery. The suspect is shown in this video.
On Saturday, September 1, 2012 at approximately 12:26 pm, the suspect entered the Saint Stevens Church located in the 1500 block of Newton Street, NW demanded money and ordered the victim to the ground. The suspect then went through the victims pockets taking US currency, a wallet, an iPhone, and other personal property. The suspect also pointed the handgun at a second victim as she entered the room. The suspect then fled the location.
The subject is described as a black male, medium complexion, 18-20 years old, 5’9”-5’11” in height, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black mask (face-out), a striped polo style short sleeve, blue jeans, and was armed with a black handgun.
Anyone with information that can assist in the identification of this subject is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
