Suspect Arrested in Connection with Two Separate Sexual Assault Cases on 9th and F Street, NW

The Metropolitan Police Department has announced today a suspect has been arrested in connection with two separate sexual assault cases.

On Saturday, July 14, 2012, at 1:11 am., members of the Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to a parking garage near 9th and F Street, NW, in reference to a sexual assault.   The complainant reported that an unknown male subject approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately.  A police report was filed for Misdemeanor Sexual Abuse.

On Saturday, July 22, 2012, at approximately 2:15 am., members of the Metropolitan Police Department were dispatched to the same parking garage near 9th and F Street, NW, in reference to another sexual assault.   This complainant also reported that an unknown male subject approached her from behind and touched her inappropriately.  A police report was filed for Misdemeanor Sexual Abuse.

On July 31, 2012, after an investigation by members of the Sexual Assault Unit, a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant was issued for Russell Clinton Jones charging him with Misdemeanor Sexual Abuse for sexually assaulting the complainant on Saturday, July 14, 2012. 

On Wednesday, April 3, 2013, Russell Jones was located and charged pursuant to the arrest warrant.  The defendant was also charged with the assault of the second complainant that occurred on July 22, 2012.

It is believed that this subject may have assaulted other women in that area.  Detectives assigned to the Department’s Sexual Assault Unit would like hear from anyone else who may also have been assaulted.  Anyone with information is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099 or the Sex Assault Unit at (202) 727-3700.
