Suspect Arrested in Connection with Four Armed Robberies

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division announced today a suspect has been arrested in connection with four armed robberies of establishments which occurred between Tuesday, November 8th and Saturday, November 16th, 2013.

On Friday, November 8, 2013 at approximately 11:33 am, a male suspect entered the Home Food Store located at 2200 block of 18th Street, NW.  The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the register.  The suspect fled the scene with U.S. currency and other property.

On Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at approximately 6:40 pm, a male suspect entered the Subway Sandwich Shop located at 1500 block of North Capitol Street, NW.  The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the register.  The suspect fled the scene with U.S. currency.

On Thursday, November 14, 2013, at approximately 6:30 pm, a male suspect entered the Subway Sandwich Shop located at 800 block of H Street, NW.  The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the register.  The suspect fled the scene with U.S. currency.

On Saturday, November 16, 2013, at approximately 7:25 pm, a male suspect entered the Subway Sandwich Shop located at 1900 block of New Hampshire Avenue, NW.  The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from the register.  The suspect fled the scene with U.S. currency.

On Monday, November 18, 2013, at approximately 1:45 pm 41 year-old Alonzo Johnson of no fixed address was placed under arrest in the 1200 block of Queen Street, NE, and charged with Armed Robbery in all four offenses.  The arrest was the culmination of an investigation by detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Detectives are investigating whether the suspect may have been responsible for other similar offenses.
