Suspect Apprehended in October Homicide on 7th Street, NW

At approximately 4:20 am, on Sunday, October 16, 2005, Metropolitan Police were called to the fourth floor hallway of an apartment building, located at 1730 7th Street, NW, for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival they located 22-year-old Maurice Temoney, of a second floor apartment at 1730 7th Street, NW, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body and head.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were called to the scene but found no signs consistent with life.  The victim was taken to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation indicated Mr. Temoney was attending a party in an apartment on the fourth floor when he became involved in an argument. The argument is believed to have continued into the hallway, where he was apparently shot.

 

On Thursday, January 12, 2006, at about 2:15 pm, a suspect in this case was arrested, without incident, in the 1200 block of Stevens Road, SE.  The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Montez Jacob Warren, of the 400 block of Oneida Place, NW, had been sought on an arrest warrant charging him with First Degree Murder while Armed in connection with the death of Maurice Temoney.  He is scheduled to be arraigned in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>DC Superior Court.
