In September of this year, the Metropolitan Police Department and Prince George's County Police Department, with the assistance of the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, implemented a cross-border initiative called "Partners on Patrol." The initiative was designed to combat crime along the borders shared by the District and Prince George's County, Maryland.
Since its inception, Partners on Patrol has produced the following results:
- Felony Arrests: 131
- Misdemeanor Arrests: 170
- Traffic Arrests: 12
- Weapons Recovered: 24
Chief of Police Charles H. Ramsey, of the Metropolitan Police Department, and Chief of Police Melvin High, of the Prince George's County Police Department, took the opportunity to commend all those involved in the operation.
