Nyjell Outler, one of US Marshals’ 15 Most Wanted, Extradited to Washington, DC and Charged with a 2021 Homicide Offense

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce a wanted suspect has been extradited to Washington, DC to face charges for a homicide that occurred on Saturday, March 20, 2021, in the unit block of Madison Street, Northeast.

 

At approximately 7:44 pm, members of the Fourth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, members located two adult male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life, one of the victims remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The second victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

 

The decedent has been identified as 21 year-old Demetris Johnson, of Southeast, DC.

 

As a result of the investigation, the suspect was identified and an arrest warrant was obtained for 19 year-old Nyjell Outler, of Northeast, DC, charging him with Second Degree Murder While Armed.

 

On Wednesday, February 23, 2022, members of the US Marshals Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 19 year-old Nyjell Outler, of Northeast, DC in South Bay, Florida.

 


Outler was extradited to Washington, DC. On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, he was transported to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed. We would like to thank the community for their assistance in providing multiple tips in this case. We would also like to thank the United States Marshals Service for their support in the investigation and offering additional reward money for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the suspect in this case.

 

As a result of the detectives’ investigation, Outler was additionally charged with the below offenses:

 

Assault with a Dangerous Weapon CCN: 20-149-883

 

On Monday, October 19, 2020, at approximately 8:45 pm, members of the Sixth District were patrolling the 3900 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE when they heard the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival to the scene, members located a juvenile male and an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The suspect made good their escape.

 

Robbery CCN: 21-019-905

 

On Sunday, February 14, 2021, at approximately 1:55 pm, the suspects approached an employee, in an establishment, in the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE. One of the suspects brandished a firearm and demanded property. The employee complied and the suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle. This case remains under investigation.

 

Attempt to Commit Robbery CCN: 21-019-908

 

On Sunday, February 14, 2021, at approximately 2:14 pm, the suspects approached an employee, outside of an establishment, in the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, SE. One of the suspects brandished a firearm and demanded the employee return to the inside the establishment while demanding property. The suspects entered the establishment and fled the scene without obtaining any property. This case remains under investigation.
