17th Street Levee Project

TRAFFIC CONTROL – LANE CLOSURES

Through May 2014, single lane closures will be installed on both northbound and southbound 17th Street between Independence Avenue and Constitution Avenue for construction activities.  At this time, lane restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day including weekends.  Restrictions may vary according to the work being performed.  One lane in each direction will be open to traffic at all times.

TRAFFIC CONTROL – LANE CLOSURES

Through mid-July 2014, expect single, right lane closures on northbound 15th Street, NW between Madison Drive, NW and Constitution Avenue, NW for construction deliveries.  Work will occur in the early morning hours and conclude by 7:00 am each day.  One northbound lane at 15th Street will remain open at all times.

Rock Creek Parkway

Reconstruction of Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway from P Street to Beach Drive continues

Tuesday, May 27 – Friday, May 30, 9:30 am to 3:45 pm

Single lane closures on southbound parkway for miscellaneous punchlist work. 

National Capital Parks East

Fort Dupont Road Surface Repairs

On Saturday, May 31, Fort Dupont Drive will be closed from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm to repair several areas of degraded road surface.  Visitors needing access to the Fort Dupont Activity Center must use the F Street Entrance off of Minnesota Avenue and use the gravel service road to the Activity Center parking lot.  Fort Dupont Drive will reopen after the road surface repairs are complete.  No work will be conducted during the Memorial Day weekend.

                                 

Suitland Parkway Utility Repairs

PEPCO continues to work on upgrading the underground electrical lines along Suitland Parkway. Several work zones are located on the outbound shoulder of Suitland Parkway. Commuters are asked to use caution near the work zones and watch for construction vehicles entering and leaving the area. Current activities include installing silt fence, stone and construction signs. PEPCO will remove and replace the conduit over the next several months.

No lane closures are planned from Friday May 23 through Monday May 26 for Memorial Day Weekend.

On Wednesday, May 28, expect single lane closures on eastbound Suitland Parkway from Branch Avenue to Meadowview Drive between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm for underground utility upgrades.  One lane of traffic will remain open each way during the work period.

On Thursday, May 29, expect single lane closures on eastbound Suitland Parkway from Alabama Avenue to Meadowview Drive between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm and from Alabama Avenue to Branch Avenue between 7:00 pm and 5:30 am for underground utility upgrades.  One lane of traffic will remain open each way during the work period.

On Friday, May 30, expect single lane closures on eastbound Suitland Parkway from Branch Avenue to Meadowview Drive between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm and from Alabama Avenue and Branch Avenue between 7:00 pm and 5:00 pm, Saturday, May 31, for underground utility upgrades.  One lane of traffic will remain open each way during the work period.

On Saturday, May 31, expect single lane closures on eastbound Suitland Parkway from Branch Avenue to Meadowview Drive between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm and from Silver Hill Road and Meadowview Drive between 7:00 pm and 5:30 am for underground utility upgrades.  One lane of traffic will remain open each way during the work period.

Clara Barton Parkway

Clara Barton Rockslide Repair

Weather permitting, work will begin to stabilize the rock slide that has occurred on Clara Barton Parkway on or about May 19, 2014.  Initial activities will occur between Carderock and Lock 7 and will include soil stabilization via plantings. The parking area adjacent to the work zone may be closed for the duration of the work.  No lane closures are anticipated.

Lane closures for the repair work will begin on or about May 27 to May 30 near Glen Echo Park/MacArthur Blvd.  interchange on both inbound and outbound lanes.  Traffic control and jersey barriers will be installed along the shoulder of the road.  Construction activities and lane closures will occur between the hours of 10:00 am and 2:45 pm.  All lanes will be open during rush hour commuting times.  The work is expected to continue through Mid-July 2014.

D.C. Water Odor Abatement Project at Little Falls Pumping Station 

D.C. Water and Sewer Authority (DC Water) continues to work along the Clara Barton Parkway on one of the odor abatement facilities for the Potomac Interceptor.  The location of this facility is approximately three miles outbound from Chain Bridge.  At all times motorists should be alert to construction vehicles entering and exiting onto the Clara Barton Parkway from the adjacent construction site at the Little Falls pumping station.

George Washington Memorial Parkway

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) contractors at I-395 will be performing alternating lane closures on both Northbound and Southbound lanes of the George Washington Memorial Parkway

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) contractors will be performing night work which began on Monday, May 12th will continue through Friday, May 30 from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m each evening. VDOT will be performing concrete grout repair and rehabilitation work on the overpass bridges impacting the George Washington Memorial Parkway.  Repair work will require alternate lane closures throughout  the night into the early morning.

Motorists are encouraged to watch for directional signs and exit ramp yielding at night.  Every effort is being made to minimize traffic delays and accomplish the work in a timely manner. Variable message boards have been placed in southbound and northbound directions of travel of the George Washington Memorial Parkway to notify motorists of these night time lane closures.
