“The Metropolitan Police Department treats every shooting as the serious crime that it is.  Multiple shootings in such a short period of time are unacceptable and MPD has put in place a number of measures following yesterday’s events.  I have extended patrols in the Sixth and Seventh Districts as well as ordered additional personnel to assist in patrols in those areas.  In addition, we are working with our federal partners in the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Bureau and the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency to increase our enforcement capabilities.
