MPD Announces Arrests in Recent Robberies

Due to community concerns regarding robberies, the Metropolitan Police Department is releasing information on recent robbery arrests. Members of the public have been helpful in providing information that has led to arrests and MPD encourages members of the public to visit our YouTube page, view videos of cases, and contact police if they recognize persons of interest at: http://www.youtube.com/OfficialDCPolice

**Previously this week, MPD announced that a juvenile suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of Carjacking and three counts of Robbery Force and Violence for offenses that occurred in the Second, Fourth and Fifth Districts on Wednesday, April 2, 2014. Listed below are other recent robbery arrests made within the last week.

Third District

·        Saturday, March 29, 2014, at approximately 3:24 am, a complainant reported he was approached by two adult male subjects in the 2300 block of 17th Street, NW, when one subject asked for money.  When the complainant pulled out his wallet, the suspects assaulted the victim and took his wallet.  Both suspects fled on foot. Two adult males were arrested for Robbery (Force and Violence). 

·       Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at approximately, 7:35 pm, a complainant reported that while in the 1500 block of 6th Street, NW, she was approached from the rear by five female juveniles who assaulted her, knocked her to the ground, and took her property.  A juvenile female was arrested for Robbery (Force and Violence). 

Fifth District

·       Saturday, March 29, 2014, at approximately 5:30 pm, a complainant reported that while in the 1900 block of Bladensburg Road, NE, she was approached by an adult male subject who assaulted her and took U.S. currency.  An adult male was arrested for Robbery (Force and Violence). 

Sixth District

·       Monday, March 31, 2014, at approximately 11:20 am, a complainant reported that while in the area of Eastern Avenue and Nash Street, NE, she was approached from behind by two adult male subjects who produced a knife and took her property. Two adult males were arrested for Robbery (Knife).

Seventh District

·       Saturday, March 29, 2014, at approximately 2:01 pm, a complainant reported that a vehicle occupied by two adult male subjects pulled up to him in the 500 block of Parkland Place, SE and engaged him in conversation. A subject exited the vehicle and then assaulted the complainant and took his property.  An adult male was arrested for Robbery (Force and Violence). 

Anyone who is the victim of a crime or witnesses a crime in progress should call 911 immediately. Individuals who have information regarding crimes should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
