MPD Announces Arrests in Recent Robberies

Due to community concerns regarding robberies, the Metropolitan Police Department is releasing information on recent robbery arrests. Members of the public have been helpful in providing information that has led to arrests and MPD encourages members of the public to visit our YouTube page, view videos of cases, and contact police if they recognize persons of interest at http://www.youtube.com/OfficialDCPolice

Below are recent robbery arrests made within the last week.

First District

 

  • Friday, December 14, 2012, at approximately 8:14 pm, a complainant reports that she was in the 1100 block of 4th Street SW, when she was approached from behind by a subject who snatched her cell phone from her hand.  Arrested was an adult male for Robbery (Snatch).

 

  • Sunday, December 16, 2012, at approximately 6:52 pm, a complainant reports that he was in the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, SE, when he was approached by three suspects. The suspects struck the complainant and took his bag. Arrested were three juveniles for Robbery (Force and Violence).

 

  • Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at approximately 7:26 pm, a complainant reports that he was approached by a suspect who threatened to kill him. The suspect pushed the complainant and took a six pack of beer and US currency. Arrested was an adult male for Robbery (Force and Violence).

 

  • Thursday, December 20, 2012 at approximately 10:20 pm, a complaint reports that she was involved in a verbal argument with the suspect in the 100 block of E Street, NW.  The suspect displayed a knife and took US currency from the complainant and fled.  An adult male was arrest for Robbery while Armed (Knife).

 

Third District

 

  • Sunday, December 16, 2012, at approximately 8:53 am, a complainant reports that he was in the 300 block of Florida Avenue, NW, when he was approached from behind by a suspect armed with a knife. The suspect then took his wallet. An adult male was arrested for Robbery while Armed (Knife).

 

Fifth District

 

  • Thursday, December 20, 2012, at approximately 6:44 am, a complainant reports that she was walking in the 1600 block of K Street, NE, when she was approached by a suspect who displayed a handgun and a knife and announced a robbery.  The complainant screamed and the suspect fled the location.  A juvenile male was arrested for Attempt Robbery while Armed (Gun/Knife).

 

Sixth District

 

  • Thursday, December 20, 2012 at approximately 8:40 pm, two complainants reported that they were walking in the 3400 block of Eads Street, NE, when they were approached by a suspect who exited a white two door Cadillac.  The suspect displayed a handgun and announced a robbery.  The suspect took the complainants jacket, iPhone, several bottles of liquor, and tennis shoes.  The second complainant attempted to intervene and was struck in the head causing a laceration.  An adult male was arrested for Robbery while Armed (Gun).

 

 Seventh District

 

  • Friday, December 14, 2012, at approximately 4:20 pm, a complainant reports that he was walking in the 3700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE, when he was approached by a suspect. The suspect displayed a handgun and announced a robbery. The complainant fell to the ground. The suspect then fled the scene in an unknown direction but was later apprehended.  A juvenile male was arrested for Assault with Intent to Rob.

 

  • Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at approximately 11:03 pm, a complainant reports that he was in the 4600 block of South Capitol Street, SW, making a withdrawal at an ATM when he was approached by two suspects.  One of the suspects brandished a handgun and announced a robbery.  Arrested were two adults for Robbery while Armed (Gun).

 

  • Thursday, December 20, 2012 at approximately 6:30 pm, a complainant reports that while he was in the 2700 block of Langston Place, SE, two suspects approached him from behind and took his iPhone and a pocket knife.  Two juvenile males were arrested for Robbery (Snatch).
