At approximately 11:45 am, on Saturday, July 15, 2006, a lone male entered the Mervis Jewelry Store located at 1700 K Street, NW. Once inside the suspect produced a dark-colored handgun and announced a robbery. Two additional suspects subsequently gained entry to the store at which time an undetermined amount of loose diamonds wasobtained before the suspects fled on foot. There were no reported injuries as a result of this incident.
The suspects in this case are all described as black males. Suspect # 1 is described as being between 40-50 years of age with a medium build, short hair and a gray beard. He was last seen wearing a blue baseball hat, gray tee shirt, tan shorts and armed with a dark colored handgun. Suspect # 2 is described as being in his late 20s, 5'6"- 5'9" in height with a dark complexion and a stocky build. He was last seen wearing a long sleeved black tee shirt, blue jeans, yellow and black gloves, black boots and a black baseball style hat. Suspect # 3 is described as being in his late 20s, 5'6" to 5'9" in height, with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, black tee shirt, black boots, and blue jeans.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099. The department currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
