At approximately 6:55 am, on Thursday, May 11, 2006, Metropolitan Police were called to the 1200 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Valley Avenue, SE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located 27-year-old Thomas Lorenzo Simms, of the 6400 block of Hillmar Drive in Forestville, Maryland, alongside 1225 Valley Avenue, SE, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the body. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were called to the scene, but found no signs consistent with life. He was taken to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
