Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating the fatal shooting that occurred in the 6200 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Banks Place, NE.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
On Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at approximately 9:45 pm, officers from the Sixth District were dispatched to the 6200 block of Banks Place, N.E., for the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located a male victim lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined that the victim didn’t show any signs consistent with life. He was subsequently pronounced dead.
The decedent has been identified as 39-year-old Craig Thompson of the 7400 block of Drumlea Road, Capitol Heights, MD.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
