At approximately 7:19 pm, on Thursday, May 4, 2006, Metropolitan Police were called for the report of a shooting in front of <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 /?>3472 22nd Street, SE. Upon arrival officers located 30-year-old James Leonard Taylor Jr., of the 3300 block of 22nd Street, SE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the HowardUniversityHospital and pronounced dead.
A second victim was located on the scene suffering from a graze wound to his back. He was taken to an area hospital, but refused treatment. The name of the second victim is being withheld because he is considered a possible witness in this case.

The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
