Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Naylor Road, SE. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
At approximately 5:30 pm on Sunday, January 10, 2010, officers from the Sixth District responded to the 2600 block of Naylor Road, SE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in an unconscious state suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced dead.
The victim in this case has been identified as 47-year-old Gordon Reaves Rivers of the 9700 block of Prince William Drive, Brandywine, Maryland.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
