The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a homicide which occurred Monday, July 21, 2008 in the 2200 block of 2nd Street, NW.
At approximately 10:23 pm on July 21, 2008, officers on patrol from the Fifth District were advised of a possible shooting victim in the 2200 block of 2nd Street, NW. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital by DC Fire Department emergency medical personnel and pronounced dead at 10:48 pm.
The decedent in this case has been identified as 34-year-old Oscar Willis Powell of the 5300 block of North Capitol Street, NW.
This case remains under investigation by detectives from the department’s Homicide and Sexual Offenses Branch.
