Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>21st Street, NE.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
On Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at approximately 12:05 am, officers from the Fifth District were in the area of 21st Street, NE, when they heard what they believed to be the sounds of gunshots. Officers responded to the 1100 block of 21st Street, NE, where they located 18-year-old Rydell Dickerson of Capitol Heights, MD, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Mr. Dickerson was transported by personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An additional victim was located suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. That victim was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The identity of the second victim is being withheld because the victim is considered a witness in this case.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
