Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred on <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Webster Street, NE.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
At approximately 12:45 am on Thursday, December 31, 2009, officers from the Fourth District responded to the area of the 200 block of Webster Street, NE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male in the rear of the 200 block of Hawaii Avenue, NE, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim who had originally been shot in the 200 block of Webster Street, NE, was transported to an area hospital by personnel from the DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The victim in this case has been identified as 19-year-old Emmanuel Durant, Jr. of the 200 block of Webster Street, NE.
