Homicide: 1800 Block of Tobias Drive, Southeast

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 1800 block of Tobias Drive, Southeast.

On Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at approximately 1:31 pm, police officers from the Seventh District responded to a call for service for the report of a shooting in the 2000 block of Bruce Place, Southeast.  Patrol units ultimately located an adult male in the 1900 block of Bruce Place, Southeast, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the shooting victim to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The decedent was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, Maryland, where an autopsy will be performed to ascertain the cause and manner of death.

Preliminary investigation up to now has revealed that the shooting victim was initially shot in the 1800 block of Tobias Drive, Southeast, and finally collapsed in the 1900 block of Bruce Place, Southeast. The homicide investigation is continuing.

The decedent has been identified as 22-year-old Gerald Martin of Northeast, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
