Homicide at 14th and Chapin Streets, NW

At approximately 11:10 last night, Thursday, December 1, 2005, police were called to the intersection of 14th and Chapin Streets, NW, for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival officers located 17-year-old Norman Jenkins, of the 2300 block of 15th Street NW, suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body.  The victim was transported to the Washington Hospital Center's MedSTAR unit and pronounced dead at 12:05 am.

The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crime Branch.  Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

Update, 7/05/07
The above case was closed Tuesday, July 3, 2007, with the arrest of 32-year-old Azariah Israel of the 300 block of Atlantic Street, SE. He was charged with Murder One While Armed.
