At approximately 12:08 am, on Wednesday, May 24, 2006, Metropolitan Police were called to the front of 1265 Simms Place, NE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 26-year-old Darrius Jerome Dyson, of the 2500 block of Fourth Street, NE, in the apartment entrance hallway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the DC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and pronounced dead.
The case is under investigation by members of the department's Violent Crimes Branch. Anyone with information about the case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
