At approximately 7:33 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2006, officers from the Prince George's County Police Department pursued a black 2005 Dodge Dakota occupied by four subjects into the District of Columbia. That vehicle which had been reported stolen during an armed carjacking in Maryland, struck several vehicles in the 3600 block of New York Avenue, NE, before coming to a stop. The four occupants of the vehicle (1 juvenile and 3 adult males) were subsequently arrested and taken to an area hospital for examination before being released into police custody.
A driver of one of the vehicles that was struck was transported to an area hospital for complaints of back pain. There were no other reported major injuries as a result of this incident.
The four individuals taken into custody are identified as the following:
- A 14-year-old Maryland male who has been charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (passenger). His name is being withheld due to the fact that he is being charged as a juvenile in this case.
- Travis Floyd,18-years-old, from the 7600 block of Barlowe Road in Landover, Maryland. He has been charged with Unauthorized Use of Vehicle (Driver).
- Jahmai Gayles, 20-years old ,from the 4400 block of Gallatin Street in Hyattsville, Maryland. He has been charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (passenger).
- Reginald Campbell, 20-years-old, from the 4100 block of 72nd Avenue in Landover, Maryland. He has been charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle (passenger).
