The Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch is investigating the fatal shooting which occurred in the unit block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?><?xml:namespace prefix = u1 /?>Galveston Street, SW. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
On Sunday, June 27, 2010 at approximately 3:07 am Officers from the Seventh District responded to the unit block of Galveston Street, SW for the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival they located a victim who appeared to be conscious but unresponsive. The victim was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and the victim was transported by helicopter to MEDSTAR. At 4:01 am the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by hospital personnel.
The victim is identified as 29 year-old Charles Bell of SW, Washington, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
