Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting committed in the 500 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?><?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = U1 /?>Edgewood Street, NE on October 8, 2009.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
On Thursday, October 8, 2009, at approximately 8:20 pm, officers assigned to the Fifth District responded to the 500 block of Edgewood Street, NE to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located 17-year-old Kenyetta Daiarra Nicholson-Stanleyof the 300 block of Bryant Street, NE suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to the WashingtonHospitalCenter’s MedSTAR Unit where she was admitted in critical condition. On Friday, October 9, 2009, Kenyetta succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 2:47 pm.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
