Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting committed in the 5000 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Bass Place, SE on November 7, 2009.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
On Saturday, November 7, 2009, at approximately 3:25 am, officers assigned to the Sixth District responded to the 5000 block of Bass Place, SE where ShotSpotter* detected the sounds of gunfire. Upon arrival, they located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk alongside of 5023 Bass Place. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department personnel responded to the scene, but could find no life signs. The victim, identified as 25-year-old Donnell Tyson of Southeast Washington, DC, was later pronounced dead on the scene by a representative from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia. Subsequently, the body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
