On Friday June 18, 2010, at approximately 11:30 pm, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District were dispatched to the 5900 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Georgia Avenue, Northwest, to investigate the report of a shooting. Once on the scene, officers found three victims suffering from gunshot wounds, with one of the victims seriously wounded. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and transported all three of the victims to area hospitals.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
One of the victims later succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 16 year old Jamaal Bell, of the 5300 block of 1st Street, Northwest. The other two victims’ injuries are not life threatening, but their identities are not being released because they are witnesses.
This case is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch. The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
