On Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at about 9:15 am, Metropolitan Police and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the vicinity of Roosevelt Senior High School, located in the 4300 block of Iowa Avenue, NW, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered two shooting victims: a 19-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the back, and an 18-year-old male suffering from a graze wound to the shoulder. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>
The 19 year old was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. The 18 year old was treated on the scene for a minor injury. The identities of the victims, both of whom attend Roosevelt High, are being withheld because they are witnesses in the case.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the victims were struck during a drive-by shooting. The suspect vehicle is described as a cream-colored, 2000-2002 Toyota Camry, occupied by two black males.
