Double Homicide in the 1200 Block of 5th Street, NE

Two men were fatally shot in an apparent robbery of an establishment.

Detectives assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the 1200 Block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>5th Street, NE.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

On Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at approximately 3:05 pm, Fifth District Officers responded to the 1200 Block of 5th Street, NE, to investigate the report of a shooting.  Upon their arrival, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Service personnel responded to the scene and transported one victim to an area hospital where he was admitted in grave condition and later succumbed to his injuries. 

The victim who died at the scene is identified as 32-year-old Li-Jen Chih of the 1600 block of 8th Street, NW.The victim who died at the hospital is identified as 59-year-old Ming-Kun Chih of the unit block of Symphony Woods Court, Silver Spring, Md. 

The apparent motive in this case is robbery of the establishment.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.

If the information provided by the caller to the Crime Solvers Unit leads to an arrest and indictment, that caller will be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
