At approximately 7:15 pm, on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, a member of the Third District's Focused Mission Team got a LoJack hit on a vehicle, occupied by a male and a female, that was traveling in the 1100 block of North Capitol Street, NW. The vehicle, a 2003 Buick which had reportedly been taken during an armed carjacking in Prince George's County, Maryland, was followed into an apartment complex located at 33 K Street, NW. At that location, the female was apprehended without incident on the second floor of the building. The male suspect, who was apparently the operator of the vehicle, subsequently fled to the 10th floor of the apartment building where he gained entry to an apartment. At that point the suspect, apparently believing that the police would search the apartment, exited a window where he apparently lost his grip on the ledge and fell to his death. Police had actually searched the ninth floor and learned of the suspect's fall upon exiting the apartment building.
