Arrest Made in Two Bank Robberies 4200 Block of Wisconsin Avenue NW and the 3400 Block of Connecticut Avenue NW

The Metropolitan Police Department/Federal Bureau of Investigation Violent Crimes Task Force has announced today a suspect has been arrested in connection with two bank robberies which occurred in the 4200 block of Wisconsin Avenue, NW and in the 3400 block Connecticut Avenue, NW.

On Monday, February 4, 2013, at approximately 9:13 am, a female entered the PNC Bank located in the 4200 block of Wisconsin Avenue, NW, approached the teller and presented a note demanding money.  The teller complied with the suspect’s demand and gave the suspect an undetermined amount of U.S. currency.  The suspect then fled the scene.

At approximately 9:29 am, also on February 4, 2013, a female walked into the Bank of America located in the 3400 block of Connecticut Avenue, NW, approached the teller and presented a note demanding money.  The teller complied with the suspect’s demand and gave the suspect an undetermined amount of U.S. currency.  The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.

Arrested and charged in connection to both these bank robberies was 36 year-old Mercedes Idalia Romero, of Northwest, Washington, DC.
