Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Offenses Unit announced today the arrest of a suspect wanted in connection to a sexual assault which occurred in the 1900 block of 18th Street, Southeast.
On Thursday, July 12, 2012, a victim reported that she was walking in the 1900 block of 18th Street, Southeast, Washington DC, at approximately 4:50 am, when she was approached by a male subject who produced a handgun demanding money. The complainant complied with the subject’s demand for money and the male suspect then sexually assaulted the victim. Afterwards, the suspect walked the victim to a nearby ATM machine and forced her to withdraw cash. The subject was last seen walking east in the 1300 block of Good Hope Road, Southeast. On Monday, July 23, 2012, at approximately 11:20 am, 21-year-old June A. Branch of Southeast, Washington, DC was arrested by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. He has been charged with First Degree Sexual Assault While Armed and Robbery While Armed in connection with this offense.
