Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District announced an arrest has been made in reference to a Kidnapping offense that occurred on Saturday, January 19, 2019, in the 1200 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast.
At approximately 10:40 pm, the suspect entered the victim’s vehicle at the listed location. As the victim approached his vehicle, the suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the victim enter the vehicle and drive. The suspect took the victim’s property and the victim was eventually able to escape from the vehicle. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers.
On Saturday, January 19, 2019, 23-year-old Trevonta Barnes, of Northeast, DC, was arrested and charged with Kidnapping and Armed Robbery (Gun). A firearm was recovered at the time of his arrest.
