At approximately 2:48 am on Monday, June 6, 2005, police were called to the front of 218 51st Street, NE, to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers discovered two adult male victims at that location suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims was transported to the Prince George's County General Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 4:32 am. The other victim, a 29-year-old male from Maryland was transported to an area hospital where he was admitted in critical condition.
The decedent in this case has been identified as 21-year-old Tremaine James, of the 2200 block of Irving Street, SE. The name of the wounded victim is being withheld due to the fact that he is a witness in this case.
The case was closed with the arrest of 23-year-old Tyrell Woodruff of the 1400 block of Cedar Street, SE. He was charged with Murder One while Armed.
