Arrest Made in the Homicide of Joshua Hopkins

A 29-year-old man has been charged with murder.

Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Detectives announced that an arrest has been made in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred in the 6100 block of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>Banks Place, NE, on July 3, 2010. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /?>

 

On Friday, July 9, 2010, at 6:00 pm, members of the Homicide Branch and the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 29-year-old Antoine Sadique Taylor of Fort Washington, Maryland, in the 4600 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant charging him with First Degree Murder while Armed.

 

On Saturday, July 3, 2010, at 12:10 am, Sixth District units were dispatched to the 6100 block of Banks Place, NE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.  The victim was transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital and was subsequently pronounced dead on Sunday, July 4, 2010.

 

The victim in this case has been identified as 19-year-old Joshua Hopkins of Northeast Washington, DC.
