Arrest Made in Armed Carjacking: 2900 Block of Erie Street, SE

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District announced an arrest has been made in the armed carjacking which occurred in the 2900 block of Erie Street, SE.

On Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at approximately 12:15 am, an armed carjacking occurred in the 2900 block of Erie Street, SE.  Two suspects approached the driver’s side of a victim’s vehicle armed with a handgun, demanded money, and told the victim to walk away. The suspects then drove away with the victim’s vehicle. A look-out was provided, and shortly thereafter, members of the United States Park Police and Sixth District Patrol officers observed the suspect’s vehicle travelling in the 4600 block of G Street, SE. The vehicle fled before crashing into a jersey barrier on South Capitol Street, south of the I-295 exit, which resulted in the quick apprehension of the suspect. 

Arrested and charged with the armed carjacking which occurred in the 2900 block of Erie Street, SE was 19 year-old Reginald Mungo of Southeast, Washington, D.C.
