Each applicant will have thirty minutes to complete a writing sample during applicant processing day. Following instructions, each applicant will be presented with a topic and several questions to formulate a response to. The purpose of this assessment is to gauge an applicant's writing skill and critical thinking ability. Applicants will not be evaluated on having specific law enforcement knowledge or lack thereof. Each applicant will be presented with a topic to write about and key points to identify. It is most important for applicants to write clearly and concisely covering the topic. Spelling and grammar is important and will be assessed. Applicants will complete this examination using a computer workstation. Applicants will not have access to either spelling or grammar check during this assessment.
