Strategic Services Bureau - Volunteer Services
Introduction: The Volunteer Services Unit works to perform a wide variety of functions to support the Metropolitan Police Department’s volunteer service programs including the Reserve Corps Division, Citizen Volunteer Corps and Collegiate Internship Program.
Location: 101 M Street SW, Washington, DC 20024
Schedule: The office is open Monday through Friday; 7:00 A.M. through 7:00 P.M. Flexible hours are available with night and weekend options available.

Number of Intern Positions: Open
Program Description: The intern/volunteer(s) selected to work with this unit will be given a wide variety of duties and responsibilities including volunteer recruitment, volunteer background screening, interviewing, marketing (web and hardcopy), and research. The intern/volunteer would also assist with coordinating events, planning trips and tours, and assisting other intern/volunteers. Based on specific skills or interests the intern/volunteer’s placement may be tailored. If the selected intern/volunteer has IT skills, they may be requested to assist with the management of intern/volunteer computerized records.
In addition to office-related work, the intern/volunteer may be able to spend time participating in ride-alongs and tours to learn more about the Metropolitan Police Department.
This unit is very fast paced and offers challenges to any selected intern/volunteer. In particular anyone who has an interest or aptitude in marketing, human relations, public relations, IT, community service, or investigations would be a good potential fit.
