Request Crime and Activity Data

As a result of an internal upgrade of the records management system used by our officers and the consolidation of some legacy systems, the Metropolitan Police Department is unable to fulfill certain types of requests for data at this time; specifically those requests related to crime or arrests in or around a specific location.

The migration to the new reporting system, called I/LEADS, will ultimately provide the Department with a more robust and detailed reporting mechanism for our members.  An extensive team of MPD employees and representatives from Intergraph (the vendor of the I/LEADS system) is working around the clock to resolve all data issues as expeditiously as possible.

The transition to the new records management system required that we merge over a million records from two different records systems into the new I/LEADS system. As one can imagine, the complex and difficult nature of merging records of different formats and dimensions, many containing extremely sensitive data, requires meticulous review and time-consuming verification to ensure all of the records are captured correctly in the new system. Thousands of records must be reviewed and verified to ensure the information is accurate and that each record has been assigned the proper location. Until this review and verification process is complete, we will not be able to fulfill requests for data related to crime or arrests occurring in or around a specific location.  The issues with the data are currently causing many offenses to not be assigned the proper location, improperly assigned to the wrong location, or mistakenly assigned more than one location.

The MPD recognizes that crime and arrest data is a valuable resource to numerous community members.  Restoring this resource is a top priority. The Department apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates your patience on this matter.  As a temporary alternative, you may view Citywide crime statistics here or also refer to the daily crime report published on the MPD District email list groups.
