Introduction: The Professional Development Bureau (PDB) is composed of several divisions and offices with a wide range of duties and responsibilities including both the Metropolitan Police Academy and the Office of Human Resource Management. The Office of the Assistant Chief coordinates and manages the work of all offices in PDB.

Schedule: The office is open Monday through Friday; 8:30 A.M. through 5:00 P.M.

Program Description: The intern/volunteer will work directly with the Assistant Chief and other office staff to develop and improve bureau service operations. They will perform the same basic administrative functions expected of all office members, which includes but is not limited to monitoring visitors, answering telephones, or making copies of material related to the PDB mission. Intern/volunteer(s) will create charts and draft reports as needed for both advance scheduled and short-notice priority briefings and meetings. The intern/volunteer may also be required to conduct Internet, documentary and primary source research as necessary to support office operations in drafting proposals and reports. This will require the intern/volunteer to use logic and creativity in finding the requested information in a limited time period. The intern/volunteer is expected to be very organized and manage his/her time well in order to perform in a fast-paced office environment with limited direct supervision.
