Professional Development Bureau - Disciplinary Review Division

Introduction:  The Disciplinary Review Division is responsible for the administration of discipline for both sworn and civilian members of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). The staff of the Disciplinary Review Division tracks and reviews recommendations for disciplinary action, prepares the appropriate documents to impose discipline, and facilitates Adverse Action Hearings for members who have been recommended for removal from the agency. The staff also ensures the implementation of disciplinary action for sustained disciplinary matters. In addition, the staff researches disciplinary cases and prepares responses to address requests for information from both internal and external entities. The staff also prepares reports relative to disciplinary trends and provides training to members of the agency.

Schedule: The office is open Monday through Friday; 8:30 A.M. through 5:00 P.M. Flexible hours are available.

Number of Intern Positions: One

Program Description: The Intern will research departmental policies relative to recommendations for disciplinary action. The Intern will also conduct research and create new Standard Operating Procedures for the Division, based on regulations, past practices, internal policies and best practices. The Intern may also review and/or edit documents pertaining to disciplinary recommendations, as well as assist with general office activities (e.g., responding to Freedom of Information requests for data and/or information).
