National Night Out 2010

On Tuesday, August 3, thousands of DC residents joined with their neighbors, police officers and other community leaders in celebrating National Night Out. From community cookouts to open houses – block parties, candlelight vigils and athletic events – DC is gearing up for the 27th annual celebration of “America’s Night Out Against Crime.”  The citywide kickoff began at 6 pm at the Trinidad Recreation Center. Public safety characters McGruff the Crime Dog® and the National Knight® met attendees and had their photos taken. In addition to the numerous activities at the kickoff event, communities across DC – in all seven police districts – scheduled NNO events during the late afternoon and evening hours.

National Night Out 2008 a Huge Success

The regional effort to put on a celebration worthy of 25 years came off without a hitch this year … agencies from across the Washington region showed their cooperative spirit and created a memorable event on The National Mall as well as exciting neighborhood activities across the area on Tuesday, August 5. The weather cooperated, residents came out to thank their police, and communities spent the evening greeting one another and enjoying the atmosphere that National Night Out generates each August. In November 2008, the National Capital Region took 3rd Place in this 25th Anniversary Celebration of National Night Out. Congratulations on a job well done!
