Introduction: The Forensic Science Services Division operates within the Investigative Services Bureau. It is responsible for crime scene and firearms investigations.

Schedule: The office is open Monday through Friday; 8:30 A.M. through 5:00 P.M. Flexible hours are available.

Program Description: At the Forensic Science Services Division, interns/volunteers are exposed to a wide variety of evidence collection and evidence handling procedures. They assist personnel in the Evidence Operation Center with the documentation associated with many of the processes associated with evidence handling. The intern/volunteer assists in initiating and updating evidence databases as well as helps in the day-to-day management of evidence in the division. Other duties might include the review of case files to determine which cases may have probative evidence for DNA testing by a contract laboratory.
Interns may be given the opportunity to observe the processing of vehicles involved in carjackings, homicides, sexual assaults, and other matters. The Intern may observe the processing of crime scenes by Evidence Technicians. The intern may be given the opportunity to view the post-mortem examination of bodies at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
