Washington Metro Division Shows an Overall Increase of 12,700 Jobs in April
(Washington, DC) - The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES) reported today that the preliminary April job estimates show an increase of 12,700 jobs for a total of 2,492,800 jobs in the Washington Metropolitan Division. The private sector increased by 14,300 jobs, accompanied by a decrease of 1,600 public sector jobs. The Washington Metropolitan Division's not seasonally adjusted April 2013 unemployment rate was 5.0 percent, which is down 0.2 percentage points from the March rate of 5.2 percent.
