At approximately 1 am on Saturday, May 14, 2005, police were called to the 6500 block of Eastern Avenue, NE, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival they located 21-year-old Kumash Deonauth, of the 6500 block of Eastern Avenue, NE, seated in a Chevrolet Impala suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was taken to the Washington Hospital Center’s MedStar Unit and pronounced dead at 1:38 am. At this time it appears a dark colored SUV, possibly a Chevrolet, drove by Mr. Deonauth’s parked car and fired several rounds before fleeing.
